What is comprehensive education?

Education must be comprehensive and complete This means that it must include a compendium of aspects and address all the needs and manifestations of people.

Comprehensive education must provide all students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to function in life.

It includes both educational and training aspects. Intellectual, physical, artistic, social or emotional, among other dimensions, are those that comprehensive education encompasses. It is a type of education that is taught at school or in educational institutions, in extracurricular activities and in the daily sphere of life.

Society must enable all people to have a comprehensive education based on dialogue, on the responsible use of freedom, on the discovery and development of the skills we have, on autonomy as a self-regulatory capacity of each of us, on empathy towards other people, and ultimately their interest is to turn us into citizens with balanced feelings and the possibility of developing our skills.

Comprehensive education contemplates all human functions , so it is a concept that cannot be left aside. It represents a concern in three fields: knowledge, behavior and will.

The field of knowledge refers to instruction , that is, it covers the knowledge that an educated person must acquire to fend for themselves and understand their environment.

The behavior of the individual must be worked on from childhood, and is related to each person’s scale of values. Each person must have enough confidence and security to be able to control their actions, understand them and respect other people. The will is the power that each of us has to order our behavior and our actions.
